Default 'Sweeney Todd' -- pre-release buzz

Johnny Depp is coming to high-def on April 1:

http://hddvd.highdefdigest.com/sweeneytodd2007.html

No specs yet as Paramount has only just announced the title to retailers.

I'd be surprised if there weren't a lot of extras though, so stay tuned.

Retail is $39.98 for the HD DVD.

My favorite movie of 2007, and I absolutely despise musicals! I cannot wait for this one!

Luckily that's MSRP and not what you'll pay. Just like all the other BD and HD discs with a suggested retail of $39.98

Paramount is really delivering treat after treat. Beowulf, Into the Wild, and now Sweeney Todd, among my most desired purchases. And Bee Movie and Kite runner (not to mention "Things we lost in the Fire") will also be making their way into my collection. Now Universal needs to step up, though I am very happy with "Elizabeth: The Golden Age" and "American Gangster" and presumably "Atonement" as well (was announce in UK, seems inevitable they will announce it here too).

I'll be picking this up as well. And I agree Blurry, we're finally getting to the point of the big hitters from last year starting to come out. Should be a great year for high def media, on both sides.

I'll be picking up Beowulf (blind buy), Into the Wild, Sweeney Todd, Bee Movie, American Gangster, and Atonement for sure.

34.99 more than likely, from the major local stores. The ones that really matter.

(Sorry, HDM disc prices have really been bothering me lately.)

Yeah! Yeah! I love seeing Paramount/Dreamwork's continuous support for HD DVD.

Now, we need some announcements from Universal! Hopefully we'll see something during the Super Bowl advert.

Paramount has confirmed that there will be a 2-disc DVD Version and the HD-DVD will only be available as a 2-disc set, so this will be packed with special features.

It looks like it will only be the R-Rated version though, not the international Un-Rated cut that changes the angles of some of the kills in the finale. It only amount to a few seconds being altered so I guess Paramount didn't think they could milk it with an Un-Rated version.

Don't forget that Paramount also has There Will Be Blood in their pipeline as well on top of everything else they've already announced, so they are really keeping HD-DVD alive at this point. For those wondering There Will Be Blood is looking at a late April/early May timeframe.

I'll be in for Beowulf and Bee Movie too. Probably skipping this one.
