Default 'Strauss: Die Fledermaus' -- pre-release buzz

Opus Arte is back with its latest classical music release on HD DVD:

The disc features 1080i/VC-1 video and Dolby TrueHD tracks in 5.0 and 2.0.

Extras include cast interviews, two featurettes and multiple still galleries.

Retail is $39.95, and street date January 29.

when they say True HD 5.0 and 2.0 does that mean there is no LFE channel?

This totally makes up for the Dark Knight not being released this winter!

I need my .1 LFE. I'm sick of this. I'm going Blu! (just kidding).

I'm not an opera guy, but I'm sure it will look/sound great in HD.

definitely getting this... just remember to set your player to 1080i... 1080p24 setting trying to resolve that does not yield sexy results in the slightest

Though I realize that this does not appeal to many mainstream consumers, I am very much planning on adding this to my collection along with the Zauberflote. I do enjoy Opera on occasion.

I have Die Fledermaus on pre-order as well. Die Zauberflote was absolutely fantastic, both "Queen on the Night" scenes gave me goosebumps.

All OpusArte releases are AVC not VC1. I can add that audio is 24bit as I remember.

Yes. This is better then 5.1 (according to people who knows audio stuff) for music mixes.
