We just posted Peter's review of 'The World's Fastest Indian.' Peter loves the film, and found this release from indie distributor Magnolia Pictures to be a winner, giving high marks to video, audio and supplements. The only thing stopping this one from being a quintuple threat is a lack of exclusive high-def extras.

The review is dead-on. I only watched it because of Hopkins and I was very happy I did. The story is very engrossing... and since I didn't know what would happen at the end... it was VERY supenseful for me.

I thought this film was a bit on the boring side but this is still a great step in the right direction for HD software.

The movie sounds like a great buy to me. I'll have to get it soon.

I don't know why Roger Donaldson insists on the 1:78:1 ratio for his theatrically exhibited 2:35:1 movies. He did the same thing with The Recruit.
I was sort of avoiding this film because of the Open Matte on the DVD, However this recently played on Mark Cuban's HD Movies channel in the 2:35:1 ratio, and it was fantastic. I was hoping that the HD-DVD/Blu-Ray's would have the OAR, then I would purchase it. The cinematography at 2:35:1 is stunning and I believe the effect will be lost with the Open Matte version. It's strange because HD Movies and Magnolia are both owned by Mark Cuban, so I wonder why he was able to get the OAR on his channel but release the other version on DVD/High-Def. That's just my tech-nerd two cents. |

I just don't see the huge difference between 2 widescreen aspect ratios. You're hardly losing any of the original picture. It's not like comparing fullscreen to widescreen. The picture's slightly different, but it's also the only way to own the movie.

Gave this a rent and watched it last night. I must say I really enjoyed this movie. Must be getting older because I'm now liking the more drama movies. Very good film to see in high def and makes me want to check out the other Magnolia titles after watching the quality they put in for this.

Absolutely great movie, one of my favorite of last season even if it stayed in the theaters for maybe 5 days! Go figure...
And the HD DVD is gorgeous!
