'Eastern Promises' -- High-Def Digest review

I disagree with "worth a look" because this movie really SHOULD be seen, even by some with weaker stomachs. If people avoided movies because there's some violence in it, think of how few people would have seen Godfather upon release. Same with pretty much any Scorsese mob movie.

hello all, watched this movie last night and yes pq was amazing and yes the movie itself was really good. Definitley alot better than history of violence. i think this movie should have been recommended. and watching a mafia movie not running 3 hours was very enjoyable...lol. Past month i've watched goodfellas, casino, and donnie brasco...all 2.5 to 3 hours long each. Overall, just watch easter promises, you wont regret it.

seen the sd version the other day and was blown away by the movie. I really enjoyed it. It reminded me of a Scorsese flick. I won't give anything away, but this movie has one hell of a twist to it.

I got my copy (along with Pan's Labyrinth) yesterday. I'm gonna watch it tonight!

And reviews' recommendations should be an amalgamation of all the HD attributes. If Citizen Kane had a less than stellar HD transfer, I would STILL recommend it based on the magnificence of the film.

Even after hearing all this praise I still don't know that I can check it out. A History of Violence was so terrible, I cant imagine something so good and something so lousy coming from the same guy. Any other History haters that liked this one?

Yes, History was terrible, I won't go into specifics as to why I didn't like it, but Eastern Promises makes up for that blip. It truly is a magnificent movie.
