Default 'Cat People' - High-Def Digest review

Peter's review of the 1982 version of 'Cat People' is up. A longtime fan of the film, he says Universal done a respectable job with its HD DVD debut, delivering solid (but unremarkable) video and audio, and porting over all of the supplements from the earlier DVD release.

well this sounds good enough for me so I'll definitely get this. The "original" (yes it's a remake for those that don't know) is very cool, but I've never seen this version.

Never heard of this one, or the original; sounds like a Netflix for me. But one of the more entertaining reviews from Peter.

The original Cochise was the first horror title produced by val Lewton, and is known for its low budget approach whereby atmospheric touches made up for budget restraints. It's a strange movie, but a good one nonetheless. You should really check it out. It is considered groundbreaking and influenced a ton of copy"cat" horror movies in its wake.

Probably not even worth a rental for me. It just doesn't sound interesting.

This is one of my favorite movies with a great Giorgio Moroder score.

It is not a masterpiece, but I found the movie haunting when I first saw it and always holds a place in my heart. I already have it on order.

Great flick! I have it in HD on my external hard drive. That should hold me over for now.

Default Lamest High Definition release?

This turkey would have to be one of the worst films released in either HD format! Other nominees?...

This has always been a guilty pleasure of mine. I thought the PQ was decent, my expectations were low but I found the HD DVD to be the best presentation ever on any format.

Why did Universal decide to release this vomit-party of a movie?????? I have the SD-DVD and that's enough. Blah!

Universal has access to some killer movies and yet, they decide to release this one.

You're not missing much Ben. Missing this movie is like missing a bad case of the "Clap".

Its funny there is so much negativity about this movie. It may not be great, but I am definitely looking forward to enjoying it again (it just shipped out this morning). I guess I like mood/ambience this movie generates - and the soundtrack was very nice.
