Default 'Heartbreak Kid' - High-Def Digest review

Just posted Peter's review of 'The Heartbreak Kid.' Though he had mixed feelings about the film itself, as an HD DVD release he says this one's quite solid, boasting strong video and audio and a decent set of supplements.

I actually liked this movie, I'm glad I picked it up, the PQ was a lot better than their recent transfers.

OK, so they put TrueHD audio in the freakin' Heartbreak Kid, but leave it out of STARDUST, which is much more deserving of a lossless track.

WTF, Paramount?

It actually sounds halfway worthy, probably still not a buy (though there is some temptation), but if not, then definitely a rent.

I loved this movie...i wished the reviewer would have at least touched on the fact that the disc says its' edited for content. And told us what that edited content was.
I purchased this disc and i don't wanna open it until i know what's missing

Agreed. It puzzles me why Paramount choses to encode some releases in TrueHD on some of what could be considered lesser titles than those that one would assume would be a given

Same. This confusion was the main reason I even read the whole review...Anyone know what's going on with this topic?

There's a lot of sick humor, so if you don't like that I probably wouldn't pick it up, I'm a fan though haha.

Oh well...I will rent it see if I like it. The PQ sounds great for a comedy!

Default Just finished watching

I just finished watching Heartbreak Kid and the pq is a sight to behold. The colors in some scenes are nothing less then stunning. I found myself loosing track of the plot sometimes b/c i was so distracted by the striking color, it really pops.

from dvdtalk.com

This HD DVD opens by noting that the movie has been edited for content. I know for sure that one of the extra snippets of footage that played over the end credits theatrically -- a payoff to Eddie's chat with Lila about his bunkmate in camp -- has been yanked out. Whether or not that's the only difference, I'm not 100% sure.

I smell a unrated edition coming.

It wasn't edited for family viewing. It was the same hilarious movies one would expect from them. It was worth the price and Ben Stiller was perfect.

Gah more bitching about the "inferiority" of Dolby Digital Plus. When will it end?
