Default 'Balls of Fury' - High-Def Digest review

Kenneth's 'Balls of Fury' review is up. He says this HD DVD release boasts a striking video transfer and an above-average TrueHD audio track, but factoring in the slim supplements package and differing opinions of the film itself, he recommends previewing this one as a rental
before making a final purchase decision.

Kind of surprised it was rated that high. Never saw it in theaters, but I do love the Walken. Might give this one a rent.

Wow..impressive PQ score for a comedy..
and a 3.5/5 movie ratings! That's what peter gave Knocked Up as well..
sooo if this is as good as knocked up then I might have to get it!

I wanted to rent this but Blockbuster only got it only on DVD, can't bother watching this in SD.

Whoever reviews these is HORRIBLE with the movie score.

This and Knocked Up the same? Knocked Up was a fantastic movie (93 or something on rottentomatoes), while Balls of Fury has around a 10%.

I concur. Balls of Fury was one of the worst movies I ever saw. I know they're from different reviewers, but if this got the same as Knocked Up, and Chuck and Larry only got a 1 star? Come on. I think there needs to be some serious re-tooling in the movie review department.

It also got the same review (in stars) as Superbad. Horrible. This movie can't even hold Apatow's jock strap. I give the benefit of the doubt, and every has their own opinions, but this is the last straw for me. I will never be reading these reviews again.

I loved BoF, thought it was just a lot of fun. Would have picked it up today if it wasn't an expensive-ass combo.

While i agree with most of your points especially that this movie can't hold Apatow's jock strap, i think you need to realize that Superbad and Balls of Fury were reviewed by different people so it is hard to compare their movie ratings.

I has to do with personal taste also, if he likes the movie it get higher score than if he dislikes it...and taste cannot be discussed since it's diferent from person to person.

I love Walken, perhaps more then one grown man should love another.......... but this movie was shit, I tried to force myself to laugh and I couldn't.

I am pretty sure one of my major organs died by the end of this movie.....

Ladies and Gents its that bad, and to rank it as high as Knocked Up is a disgrace even if it is a guilty pleasure, just my two cents

'Knocked Up' received 4 stars and came with a "Recommended" tag -- on the flipside, 'Balls of Fury' came with a big warning, a "Rent it First" tag, and a high score that reflected my guilty pleasure enjoyment rather than its actual merit (which I noted several time in the review).

As always, comedy is the most relative genre to the viewer. I would have given 'Knocked Up' 4.5 stars personally (possibly 5 since my wife and I both loved it -- a rarity in my household), but that's just my personal taste. I despised 'Superbad' (I know, I know), and would have given it 2.5 stars (it just tried to hard to win my affection).

But if I wrote the review for 'Superbad,' I would have pointed out (like I did in 'Balls of Fury') that I know I'm in the minority. Unlike the other sections which have formal grading standards, the star rating on the "Movie Itself" section is a reflection of personal taste.

Still, Peter, Josh, and I work hard to make sure we're not misleading in our text. If our score is skewed by our personal taste, we always point that out.

Hope that helps clarify the differences in our "Movie Itself" scores. Thanks as always for posting!

Ooo, someone else who felt the same way about Knocked Up & Superbad as I do. Yep were definately in the minority. Guess I can count on your ratings for the movie itself when it comes to comedies .

I rented this and watched it tonight. The movie is pretty damn bad. I laughed more during the 14 minute "making of" special feature. Thomas Lennon is one of the funniest people in the world when he's not reading from a lousy script. He had a minute long rant in the "making of" that made the whole movie worth the while

This is a big time pass for me.

This movie was awful... honestly can't believe it got 3 and a half stars.
