Default 'Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford' -- pre-release buzz

Warner has announced a Blu-ray and HD DVD/DVD combo release for the Brad Pitt western 'The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford':

http://hddvd.highdefdigest.com/assas...essejames.html

Tech specs include 1080p/VC-1 video, though no audio details are yet available.

Given the film's 160-minute runtime and the one-disc configuration, extras are slim, with only a 30-minute documentary and the theatrical trailer.

Retail is $35.98, and street date February 26, 2008.

As I mentioned elsewhere, this is great news. One of the better dramas from this past year.

Not sure but I do know that AmazonUK has the pre order up. Euro/UK version comes out in March.

Anybody see this? Looked good, but is it 3 hours good?!? Anyways the cinematography looks excellent, but in my area there's no way to rent HD Dvd so it's buy it or rent it on standard, leaning towards buying it.......... but dropping 30 bucks on a waste of time is rough.

It is a fantastic oscar worthy movie, but at the same time it is not for everybody! It is a very slow paced drama that is a psychological study of Jesse James and Robert Ford dealing with the build up to the assassination and the aftermath for the parties involved.

I was transfixed for the entire movie (as was one of my colleagues that I went with - the other was bored out of his mind), but if you are looking for an action movie or a western, then this is not for you.

I heard this film saw a very limited theatrical release. Why with such a big draw as Pitt involved do you think they’d do this? I mean the critical reaction seems to be pretty high on this one, it’s not like they were trying to do damage control on a dog of a movie. What gives?

Saw this in AVS..did anyone notice that the blu-ray listing for this is completely gone on all the major sites (BB, CC, Amazon, etc.) but the DVD and HD DVD versions are still there?
