Default 'Blade Runner' - High-Def Digest review

All I can say is wow. Peter's mammoth reviews of 'Blade Runner: The Ultimate Collector's Edition' and 'The Complete Collector's Edition' are up, and both earn perfect scores across the board.

Both editions contain exactly the same content, but 'The Ultimate Edition' comes packaged in a cool Deckard Briefcase with some collectibles (you'll pay an additional thirty bucks for that).

Either way, Peter says you can't go wrong with these releases. Of course, you'll need to find it in stock somewhere...

Complete Collector's Edition

Good review, but the workprint version is on all HDM versions. I just got the 5 disc non-ultimate and it's there.

So yeah, good review, just that one problem.

Actually the complete edition still has all 5 disc and the workprint version of the movie.

Whoa 5 Stars across the board, is the first title to get this high of a review? This has already shipped from Amazon, I cannot wait! Another must own for HD DVD owners.

I just got my Ultimate today (complete with Deckard briefcase). It's still in the Amazon box. I'm going to watch Final Cut tonight!

They already fixed it.

Heya... sorry about that. Warner only sent me the UCE's of each, plus details that indicated four discs on the CCE.

Anyway, all versions do indeed contain the five discs.

BTW, I also added notes that discs two and four in every configuration are actually standard DVDs only. These discs are supplements only, but still, it would have been nice to have the extras in HD, too.

Thanks for your understanding,

From the review:
"However, unlike many other extended or unexpurgated versions of films that routinely hit disc these days, 'The Final Cut' of Blade Runner' does not incorporate any substantial new footage (there are not, in fact, any new scenes inserted), so aside from the surface changes, there is really nothing "undiscovered" to be discovered here at all."

This is not entirely correct, actually. Though there certainly isn't anything SUBSTANTIAL, there ARE, in fact, pieces of footage that were not seen in any cut since the workprint - namely the dancers wearing hockey masks and a much longer shot of Deckard walking down Animoid Row after having the snake scale identified.

Either way, I cannot wait for my copy to arrive from Amazon (tomorrow - I paid for overnight shipping and it was still cheaper than buying it at my local Best Buy). Blade Runner is my favorite film of all-time, HANDS DOWN, and I even had the extreme pleasure of seeing this Final Cut in theaters twice. I can't wait to dive into the Dangerous Days documentary or to see the film in high-def for the first time!!

As others have already pointed out, the 5-disc COMPLETE Collectors Edition DOES contain the workprint version. There IS a 4-disc version which does not contain it, and of course, the 2-disc edition. Being a huge BR nerd, I went with the Ultimate because all those trinkets were just too tempting for me.
