I was not huge fan of either of these movies, but I am excited to see Universal is re-releasing non-combo versions of thier releases. The $27 price point has been a little to high for me on some titles, so I hope they continue this with all thier titles...

Not cool: the fact that they dropped all the bonus features from the SD side and didn't bother to put them back on the HD side. Nice one, Uni. I'll pass.

I was just going to say the same thing. It won't matter too much on "Dazed and Confused", but "Land of the Dead" had *all* of its extra features and entertaining featurettes on the SD side, and will lose them all (save for the audio commentary) on the HD only reissue.

I don't care too much for combos, either, but I would still take them over losing the extras on certain movies like this one.

(yawn).......

(btw: I'm happy they are re-releasing these as non-combos, but as an announcement by Universal that it's somehow part of a March "wave" of releases this news is simply pathetic imo.)

Ugh... these two movies are losing extras and they have that generic HD DVD menu/background/music Universal used to use.

Since I have been wanting to pick up Land of the Dead but the price of $34.99 has been too high and the fact that the re-issue is losing all the extras and is still $29.99 I will just pick up the Combo disc used somewhere for around $20.00 or so.

Same here. Don't care about either of these movies but that's a piss poor move Universal. Releasing the extras as SD is bad enough but just dropping them completely!?!?

PS - Glad to see non combos i guess...

+1 I hate combos and try to avoid them as much as possible, hopefully they will fade away much like the hd-dvd/blu ray dual format combos

Thumbs down

I love both of the movies and already own both on SD. I would glady have bought both but they were in combo, so I didn't. Now they have finally made a non-combo format and they screw us on the extras. The part that really pisses me off is that they will be on SL HD-DVD discs, so it's not like they don't have plenty of room for extras. If they are too freaking lazy to re-encode the disc and add extras I'll just skip it. Thanks for duping us Universal, I'll definitely skip buying these if they don't include the extras.

It's just lazy not to re encode these releases to contain the features of SD. How can HDM take off when studios don't do this. I thought that was the whole point of combo in the first place to cover people for when they got HD. Weak.

Yet we still get told that some films are still going to be HD DVD/DVD combos?Bah!!! For god sake univeral, make your minds up. Just stop with this dual format nonsense.

You just know they will still release films on HD DVD/DVD and not learn their lessons and then 6 months later re-release them.

If they really insist on putting a DVD side in there too, then just put a stand alone DVD in the damn box instead of sticking it to the bottom of the disc. It probably cost less.
