Universal Studios Home Entertainment has finally scheduled The 40-Year-Old Virgin (Unrated) Special Edition HD DVD for release on May 22. (A new 2-disc SE DVD is also being scheduled for release on the same day).

The main feature will be presented in 1080p High Definition Widescreen 1.85:1 video with Dolby Digital-Plus 5.1 (English & French) audio options. Bonus materials for this Special Edition HD DVD is TBC.

It will be priced at $29.98 SRP. Should there be any changes to these details later, you'd see them posted up on this blog.

Funny as hell film with a low MSRP. This means places like amazon will sell it for $19.99 (I'm sure BB will still charge $37.99!).

I am one of the few that found this movie to be Over Rated!

HD DVD announcement is great news but unless Best Buy/Future Shop brings back their "Buy 2, Get 1 Free" then I'll pass.

Well, to be frank, I thought it was overrated as well (though still ok). But my wife and sister both thought it was hilarious. So for my wife's sake, I will add it to my collection.

Definite purchase. I love the cast. Malco, Bednob (dirty sanchez) Keener and the whole cast was just great. Carrell is funny to me and who doesn't like looking at Elizabeth Banks. Count this one as a purchase for me.

I'm with you. The unrated version was excruciatingly long for a comedy -- something like 130 minutes. I laughed once, maybe twice during the whole thing. Not my type of movie.
