Default 'Dragon Tiger Gate' -- pre-release buzz

Tai Seng has announced their latest high-def release:

http://hddvd.highdefdigest.com/dragontigergate.html

It follows the Blu-ray only release of 'Initial D.' However, in an usual approach, the company is staying format agnostic, but will not be "releasing the same title on both formats.' So 'Dragon Tiger Gate' is HD DVD only. (Weird, huh?)

No specs yet, but street date is February 26, 2008, and retail $34.98.

We'll keep you posted as soon as full details come in.

Yes I have seen it a couple of times and it is an oustanding action film. I didnt know this was coming to HD DVD and am really excited to get my hands on this. I love these kinds of films.

This is awsome news! Now only if they woud bring Shadowless Sword to HD DVD.

Lovely, we need more Asian movies on HD DVD I'll definitely blind-buy this one.

Knew nothing of this movie, but looked for its trailer at Youtube (found it here) and I have to say that I think this'll DEFINITELY be a blind buy! Looks great!

Also interesting is the studio's way of being neutral yet exclusive to both formats at the same time. Very odd decision to make, no?

Oh well, judging by the two movies that are coming out on each format right now by this studio, I'd rather have this martial arts movie than the auto racing movie.

sweet... i was just at the mall and was walking by the martial arts movie cart that plays all those cool movies and was thinking to myself, would be nice if those movies came to HD-DVD.. i would definately buy them... now i see this... thank you!!!

bring Initial D to HD-DVD too.. my girlfriend would love that... i've been a fan of that anime for years... my girlfriend hates it when i spend all my money on HD-DVDs and videogames... Intial D would make her forget about my spendings for a while...

This was a fun movie. Bit over the top and not very realistic fights, but still full of nice wire-fu action.

Its a comic book adaptation, what do you expect? In all honesty when was the last realistic martial arts film that you have seen? They are all like this now with crazy wire work and insane action sequences. This is no different and is actually at the top of the heap in terms of quality. The opening fight sequence alone makes this film worth getting.

I'm not usually into these asian films, but this one looks promising. I might have to check it out.

Gosh...I love this comic adaption (nice wire-fu!) & it's great to know it will be released in HD! I watched this movie 5 times in DVD which already has great PQ & DTS-ES 6.1. For all Donnie Yen's fans, this is a truly MUST have!

Speaking of Shadowless Sword...yes I also love that Korean movie & the cute girl!

It is an awesome fight film as far as the wire work goes(and the 2 discer had an incredible PQ). Hats off to Donnie Yen one of the greatest, yet underrated actors/fight cheoragraphers(sp!) in the history of HK cinema.
In regards to "realistic", off the top of my head-SPL(aka KILLZONE in the US) hauls ass and is very minimal wire work(about as much as Chan in the early to mid-eighties) and the follow up FLASHPOINT(available on a georgeous BR disc). And to lesser degree DOG BITES DOG-fighting not so over the top but pretty brutal. Also Wu Jing's FATAL CONTACT, not a favorite of mine, but one or two exceptional fight scenes. All of which are post 2006.
