Default 'Mr. Bean's Holiday' - High-Def Digest review

Peter's review of 'Mr. Bean's Holiday' is up. Whether you enjoy the film's humor or not ultimately comes down to a question of personal taste, but Peter says this HD DVD release is decidedly middling, with the video and audio both fine but not superior, and the extras far from extensive.

One is from Universal and the other from Paramount. Not much point in comparing their audio specs...? Or is the point that since Transformers didn't get TrueHD no other title should get it either?

I have the Finnish (European) release of this. Personally I thought the PQ was better than 3 stars. Would have given it 4 stars for PQ myself. I'm not a professional reviewer though, but I think this one is on par with many other discs that have received better PQ marks here and elsewhere. I enjoyed the movie as well, especially liked the character that was played by Willem Dafoe. It wasn't as funny as the classic Mr. Bean stuff though.

Default Americans are a funny sort

I just don't get Americans. Eventhough I have lived 50 miles north of your border my entire life, I still don't get why you won't like movies unless they're filled with violence or nudity.

Mr. Bean is a classic character and the rest of the world gets it. But since it's clean and witty humor, you won't give it a chance unless there are several pairs of large breasts, a car chase, and a few dozen explosions.

Hardly any "blockbusters" are filled with violence and nudity. R rated movies generally do terrible business around here.

In regards to Mr. Bean - there are many who love him, but since it's a foreign based character ... there are less people here who have even heard about him.

My kids love him.

Please, don't genericise the American populous. We're not all idiots, and we don't need to prove it either.

I have the UK import and found it to be a nice transfer. The film itself, I found delightful. Oh well, I'm happy to own the disc.

I watched this last night, and I have to disagree with the picture quality rating as well. Most of the film looked very sharp to me, and I would have easily given the PQ a four.

I loved the movie as well, because its refreshing to see something as lighthearted and fun as this every once in a while. I can definitely understand the reasoning behind the 3 star rating thoug...this kind of humor does come down to personal taste.

Clean, witty humor?

I haven't seen alot of Bean but the majority I have seen is just Rowan Atkinson making stupid faces and acting retarded.

That's not witty or humorous.
