Thumbs up Mission: Impossible III -- a new benchmark?

The first rival to 'Batman Begins' for my new favorite demo disc:

Loved just about everything about it -- great transfer, soundtrack and very cool full 1080p extras. Of course a Dolby TrueHD track would have been nice, but I still can't complain!

Peter,

Great review. I posted a question in the "Smackdown" area, based on this review, if you care to throw in your two cents.

I'm also going to wait for the box set. Three movies for $60 ($69.99 - 10% HD DVD deal) is a steal.

Didn't realise there was a HD-DVD boxset of this coming out - will definitely wait for that (even though I didn't think much of #2).

The box set is coming out the same day as MI3 by itself so you don't have to wait for it.

OH

MY

GOD

I just finished watching MI:3, and I have got to say if this is what HD-DVD/Blu-Ray has in store for us in terms of extra content, then I am going to a very happy movie watcher!

Has anyone else really watched the movie with the PIP commentary yet? I love how they are commmentating in the lower corner of the screen, and then at points simply stop the movie to talk further, or give you the option of watching deleted scenes on the fly. I am REALLY impressed with that.

I haven't watched King-Kong yet, so I don't know what to expect with U-Control. But me watchy.......and me likey!

MI: III is one of the better action movies to come along in a while. Tom Kat lost viewers w/ his recent antics, but I don't let that stuff deter me from good movies.

I thought the story was pretty weak, many things were not explained as much as they should have been. I preferred the first two in terms of plot.

But that aside, the picture quality was stunning... great demo material!
