I *sorta* have the same problem. Sky Captain doesn't work on my Xbox HD DVD player but it works perfectly on my D3. Go figure.

I only have the HDDVD add-on drive for the 360. I should get it replaced through Paramount.

Yeah, WOWOW is a good source for Japanese movies in full HD I just have to constantly do some study to figure out which ones I should record and which ones to skip and there are never any English subs. I haven't watched this one yet, but it sounds good from your description. Seems that many Japanese movies that are released on BD or HD DVD are shown around the same time there. For example 5 Centimeters per Second and A Place Promised in Our Early Days are coming on WOWOW next month.

DL blanks are also a bit expensive and when using much cheaper SL blanks there will be some kind of a quality compromise if the movie is a longer one as bitrate needs to be dropped lower to fit. Also they can be played back only on RD-A301 at the moment but Toshiba is apparently adding support for these kind of recorded discs to HD-XA2 and HD-XF2 in mid-May at least for Japan models.

Well I'm sure you'll enjoy Memories of Tomorrow. I'd buy it in an instant if it was released in HD.
There seems to be several good Japanese movies, anime etc. coming up on WOWOW. For example I noticed "The Choice of Hercules" (Totsunyu Seyo! Asama Sansou Jiken) on April 27 and IMO that is worth recording! I have the Japanese DVD which is English subtitled.

Thanks for the tip I check the new ones on weekly basis as the digital program listings info is available to the recorder from the digital TV system just one week ahead all the time and I was just thinking if I should record this one or not, I'll certaintly give it a go based on your recommendation.
