Default Jaws, ET, and Jurassic Park come to HD DVD

Jaws, ET, and Jurassic Park have been added to the HD DVD promotion group's upcoming titles list.

Looks like the big guns are finally coming out.

I'd post the link but I haven't made 10 posts here yet, so linking is not allowed. You can check the news on dvdtimes.co.uk though.

If this is true and all coming out this year then this is pretty big news.

Whoo hoo! All three of these are for sure buys for me, and make me excited that they're coming to HD-DVD (Not to mention exclusive, hehe).

As for E.T... I wonder if we'll get both excellent theatrical and the "Hippie/Walkie-Talkie" crap version? I don't mind if we get both, as long as the theatrical version is there.

I never heard of it either but did a quick google search and it seems in a later version some of the dialogue was changed in the movie.

Elliot's mother's prohibition to go trick-or-treating dressed as "a terrorist" has been changed to "a hippie"

My favorite Spielberg was Minority Report, which doesn't look all that good in SD-- Cool Grainy look in theaters turned out to look muddy on DVD... It could sure use the HD overhaul-- but it's a Fox Dreamworks release, so I guess it'll be born Blu when it shows up...

Yes, I knew I owned an hd-dvd player for a reason. Universal is making it worth owning two HD players.

By the time dual-players get cheaper in a year, I'll have to nab them. I'm worried about putting too much wear and tear on the PS3...not so much the hd-dvd though.

Ditto. I just hope Universal would start using more lossless audio codecs. It sucks though because the release date says its coming out on *&^%&*(

This would be an unprecedented move. To release A-List Spielberg material on a format as relatively niche as HD DVD... wow. I just hope this is for real and not some marketing people getting ahead of themselves. It would be a real black eye to HD DVD if this list is released and then retracted after some legal squabbling from Spielberg's lawyers. Spielberg's films are released to make money, not move formats, so again: this is very, very unexpected.

If true, certainly not unwelcome of course! Jaws in HD...
