Default 'The Aviator' - High-Def Digest review

Kenneth's review of 'The Aviator' is up. He says fans of the film won't be disappointed by this HD DVD release, which boasts an excellent video transfer and a thorough series of supplements. The front-heavy audio mix is less thrilling, but he still calls this one an easy recommend.

Agreed! I thaught it was a good movie also. The "plane crash" sequence was brilliantly done. I don't understand why people always trash Leo. I think he's a very good actor

So the hd version is an overall improvement to the standard?? which already looked pretty good

Just a small quibble with the Film Review...Howard Hughes did not direct Scarface, Howard Hawks did, Hughes produced. Hughes is primarily known as a producer and head of RKO studios. He only directed Hell's Angels and The Outlaw himself. Watched the HD-DVD yesterday and as a fan of the film would have given the video 5 stars as the reviewer correctly assumed. Overall, great review of a great film.

I would say yes. I've watched The Aviator on an upconverting DVD player a number of times and the HD version is very noticeably better. The colors pop off the screen way more.

I just finished watching the whole movie. Out of all the movies I've seen on the format The Aviator tops them all in PQ.

That is a pretty hefty claim friend. What movies have you seen on our beloved format that you are making comparisons to??? Just curious. I thought the movie was just ok. Maybe I will give it another shot...but I doubt it.

King Kong, Pitch Black, Out of Sight, Batman Begins, La Haine, The Pianist, The Thing, Transformers, Training Day, Equilibrium, The Machinist, 300, Children of Men, The Big Lebowski, just to name a few.

I think The Aviator tops them all in the PQ department.
