Vanguard Jumps into HD DVD/'Channels' -- pre-release buzz

Indie Vanguard Cinema has jumped into HD DVD exclusively, with its first title 'Channels'

To be honest, I've never heard of this movie. It apparently is going straight to video, too, as I couldn't find any info for it on Box Office Mojo.

Anyway, it's hitting HD DVD and DVD January 22. No specs yet, but MSRP is $29.98.

I know they are a small studio but every little bit helps. Hopefully we will get Passion of the Christ soon, it was a brutal movie but I liked it.

Aye... It's good to see more diversity of product on HD DVD but I can't say that this film, nor their catalogue, interests me much.

Still, I wish them every success and maybe in that other, smaller distributors feel confident to dip their toes in the HD DVD waters also.

Don't Fox Searchlight own the rights to this?

Unfortunaly, yes i watched this last night. It was a total blind buy, more to support an indepent high def release then any real interest in the flim. Maybe i just didn't "get it" or something, but i found this movie unwatchable. In fact i actually didn't even finish it, i turned it off after an hour. The acting writing, and directing are all horrendous. The plot is slow, boring, and totaly unengaging. I think the producers owe me for wasting my money and time with this POC.

MPEG2 with two channel audio...

I had to double check and make sure Netflix sent me the HD DVD and not the SD DVD instead.
