Default 'Face/Off' - High-Def Digest review

Just posted Kenneth's review of 'Face/Off.' He's a huge fan of the film, and says that this HD DVD release more than does it justice, delivering an excellent video transfer, a set of powerful audio tracks and a healthy collection of supplements.

What really killed this movie for me was the obvious stunt doubles. They make no effort not to film their faces and it gets very distracting at times during the movie.

Very much looking forward to mine, it's "shipping soon" from Amazon. I had this earlier on Laser Disc but never on DVD...

I wish John Woo's "The Killer" and "Bullet in the Head" would be released somewhere on HD DVD as well, those are some of my top favorites!

Will definitely be picking this one up this week. One of my all-time faves! Glad to hear the pq/aq are good because the dvd copy I have is just terrible. This is a definite upgrade in my books!

...yeah. I noticed that as well at the age of 15 when the film first came out in 97', and your definitely right that it's even more noticeable on HD. As long as the stunt doubles didn't come out looking like "Black Thunder & White Lightning" from the movie "Major League 2" (remember that scene, , then it's okay.

But hey, it's a popcorn flick, imo, which I don't mind...since the transfer is what I was hoping for.

Whomever that grabs this title, will not be disappointed, imo.

On point review by the reviewer.

Two thumbs up for Paramounts efforts on a 97' flick.

Can't wait to read the Full Metal Jacket: Deluxe Edition review. I hope we can say the same for that as well.

when i got the laser when it came out i had 4:3 27 inch television so the picture was small i could see the wires of a guy flying back wards. it still looked cool and maybe one of the reasons i haven't looked at the movie in years.

Right i have emailed High Def Digest countless times, but i will say it again.

This is the perfect opportunity to compare VC-1 to AVC. The english Blu Ray face off is AVC and region free the american HD-DVD is VC-1. Compare them! Get the gloves out! Perfect opportunity to compare hd-DVD vs Blu Ray.

Getting it. Everyone that watches this copy praises it. Everyone cant be wrong. I was worried the DD+ or DTS track would be horrible, but so far, Paramount is proving us wrong.
