My copy just came in the mail today from Amazon.com. I absolutely love this movie, so I can't wait to pop it in later on tonight.

Carlito's Way is without a doubt on my "must buy" list...I just dumped way too much on HD DVDs in the past week and a half so I really have to give it a rest for right now! (college student)

"The HD DVD: Vital Disc Stats
Universal Studios Home Entertainment has released 'Carlito's Way' on HD DVD. The disc has the studio's usual generic menus with annoying beeping sounds that can be turned off if you'd like (who would want them on?), but only by scrolling through a bunch of other beeping options to get to that setting. The case art features Universal's standard ugly swoosh borders." Josh Zyber
Yep, this sounds like a review by Josh.
After reading this part, I just couldn't take this review seriously anymore. People really don't need to hear about the 'vital disc stats'. It's exasperating.
Sure this one was alright, but I think I'll just stick with my standard def DVD since it looks pretty decent up-converted. Hopefully Universal will bring Scarface to HD DVD some time in the very near future. That's one film worth upgrading to HD DVD for.
And about Brian De Palma flicks, when will Universal bring 'The Black Dahlia' to HD DVD??? -

Why does that discredit the review? How about backing up a statement like that instead of just saying "he talked about tha swoosh and beeping noises he is unfit to tell us about the video and audio"? It's one thing to think its unnecessary, but its another to make ridiculous comments about the integrity of the review. Lastly, how can it sound "like a review by Josh" when this is his first review? Where is your frame of reference?
I'll give you credit for at least using proper punctuation, but beyond that, everything about that part of your post is pretty much useless. There, I just reviewed your post, even though I have no frame of reference or qualifications to do so. Sound familiar?Blu-ray's: 234

Well, when you say something pointless, as like in this case stating your mind about beeps and borders IN A PROFESSIONAL REVIEW, I just can't take you seriously anymore. It's kind of why a lot of people poke fun at Larry King's reviews also because of some of the things he says in them, although I still like King.
It's sounds like a review by Josh because in his articles before on this site he kept droning on and on about his hatred about beeps and whistles and borders. So maybe that's why I said it???
And a lot of posts here are useless, even yours you just wrote.

First, I have to appreciate someone who cannot communicate effectively without using emoticons, so kudos to you.
Second, you have not really answered why it discredits the review. You just said something that's a pet peeve of yours, but that doesn't cover WHY suddenly it invalidates his opinion on video or audio. If you want to be illogical and say a review is useless because you're too picky to look past a part of the review that hasn't really bothered anyone, then that's your perogative. It doesn't make you look very smart, though. At least with Larry King, he doesn't say movies aren't very good because his popcorn was a little stale and the usher gave him the hairy eyeball.
By the way, if you want to effectively insult someone, it helps to not turn around and use the exact same insult on them. It's not only unoriginal, but looks like a poor man's substitute for "no u r".Blu-ray's: 234

I'm not trying to insult anyone. All I'm saying is that putting something "new" in reviews here at HDD that just complain's a about studio's disc layout doesn't look very good. It looks pretty mediocre and that Josh's reviews in the future should leave that out because no one cares about "Vital Disc Stats". All everybody here mainly cares about is the video and audio and not much more anyway.
I like hearing your opinion on my posts, but I don't really care for them since you're not really reading them.

Don't worry about it. theHDphantom has a grudge against me for reasons I have yet to understand. He believes that if he personally doesn't care about something, it is "unprofessional" for anyone else to ever mention it, even though others may find the information useful.
Just let it go. It's not worth arguing about.Josh Z

Josh,
Can you comment more about the TrueHD soundtrack? I'm thrilled that Universal seems to be doing more lossless. -
