Default 'The Reaping' - High-Def Digest review

Kenneth's HD DVD review of 'The Reaping' is up. Although the disc boasts an excellent TrueHD mix, he says it's the one shining star in an otherwise lackluster release.

When I first heard about this movie it piqued my interest - the idea of someone actually debunking religious garbage would have been a new thing for Hollywood. Sadly then I heard it was actually about, shock, horror, religious fantasy being *real* afterall. Yawn.

Another release to skip.

I think Kenneth was quite harsh on his review of the movie.

It had a great plot twist for an ending, and the acting was rather solid. It wasn't quite a horror film, but it's far from a 2 star movie..

The picture was at least 3.5 though, just my opinion..

The supplements did suck, which was a surprise, since Im sure they could have added some cool features, but the ones they do have are somewhat worth it.

Id definitely recommend this to any horror buffs or someone looking for a decent movie.. its got some good twists that keep it suspenseful

I wouldnt class it as a horror movie, its a film that sits in a few genres horror, drama, thriller but not great overall.

The twist I had worked out ages before the 'reveal' and they also didnt I feel expain what happened to Swanks daughter properly which is what causes her connection to the 'possessed girl' (not a spoiler!) The extras are total crap though, I mean when an extra is the young girl in the movie reading a spooky story she wrote inspired by the film you know you are scraping the barrell.

It was a blind buy for me cause I like Hilary Swank but I probably should have rented it first. I didnt think the picture was that bad to warrant a 3.

I liked it very much, may even give the movie a 4 out of 5 (3.5 if you ask me on a bad day). I did enjoy the religious aspect of the movie though.

I thought it was also a pretty good movie. My wife is not a big horror and gore person but she actually enjoyed this with me. I thought it moved along nicely and I never felt bored with it. Extras were informative but not entertaining. 3.5 out of 5 for me.

Ooooh just saw this piece of tripe.
What a bore and not even in the vain of a good ole bad "B" movie.
It made me look upon "The Exorcist II"'s locust scene's as being terrifying

Just watched this in from my Q..
What a terrible movie. A sad plot, poor special effects..
I cant believe Swank signed up to this. The PQ & AQ was decent,, but not enough to make for this piece of crap film.

Movie: 1.5/5
PQ: 3.5/5
AQ: 3.5/5
Overall: 2/5
