"red october" doesn't have any of the advertised extras. the movie just starts playing like "top gun"!

edit: NONE of the discs have extras. this is different from "top gun", where the cover art didn't promise anything other than the movie itself. here, the words "special collector's edition" are plastered everywhere, and the back cover art for each disc lists the extras found on the sd dvd special editions. this is a genuine case of false advertising.

What?
I thought they released details for each disc and the SD extras were included which was at least one featurette and 3 of the films had a commentary.
Can anyone that has received this early confirm what extras are included in this set?

This poster (who received his copy) says that the set contains the commentaries and cast/crew featurette.

Ah, yes - but guess what? Paramount screwed up royally and forgot to PUT THE EXTRAS ON THE DISCS, no commentaries, even cycling through audio. All you get from the pop-up menu is PAUSE - SETTINGS - SCENES. That's it. Every case has the extras printed on the labels but no extras on the discs. I want to call Paramount or at least email them, but cannot find a support address.

Um, perhaps wait until the street date for the email and phone complaints. LOL

If this is true it had better not affect the street date. I am already irked that I had to cancel my BD versions since they would have had seperate encodes using the extra space.

I highly doubt no comentary tracks..Hopefully there are some extras though.
I also wished you could buy them seperately..not much a fan of sum of all fears.

I only want Red October and Sum of All Fears I though Danger and Patriot were crap.

Paramount will split them up in about 6 months if the Mission Impossible series is anything to go by

I'm not sure why you say "highly doubt commentary tracks" when the packaging says it is supposed to have them!! Plus cast/crew interviews. This is a SE collection of these 4 movies and the set should contain these extras!! I can't belive Paramount would screw up this badly.
We need to get our ammunition ready for a full-out assault next Tuesday and complain to Paramount.
This is blatant misrepresentation!!!!!

Maybe they put the previously intended BD transfer on the HD DVD?

Boy do I hate false advertising. Especially when a studio pushses the title back a month. You would think they would have noticed this.

However, the features are the same as the Standard DVD which I've already seen, and I have no use of seeing again. Probably will go ahead and pick up anyway for the movies in Hi-Def.

Love your reviews on that website. I also really enjoy all of the pics you include with the reviews.

Dave - to clarify, he was just reading what the packaging said. He hadn't actually popped the disc in his player. This is why I'm so pissed. The packaging says extras and "collectors edition" and there is nothing.
