Its not going to take long at all for this film to gain a profit. It will be profitable in its first week of release on home video. Considering this is still showing in some theatres worldwide I am betting this becomes profitable before it even hits the home theatre market.

As for judging a film by how well it does at the box office, that could be one of the most unintelligent things any movie fan can do. Its a fact that a films overall performance says nothing about that films quality and if anything in recent years its actually been playing out that the more successful films are some of lesser quality films released during that year. Ill take limited release films and criterion releases over a blockbuster any day of the week with of course a few exceptions.

By the way I have to comment on how inappropriate I think this kind of terminology really is and I think its ultimately making DD+ look like a far inferior codec and only adding fuel to the fire in regards to the debats that are raging on this site on an almost daily basis.

DD+ is in itself a High Res audio format and the difference between DD+ and TrueHD is minimal. I think this kind of terminology is just 100% misleading.

Yeah I couldn't find a hi res image nor one without the credits on the bottom. They were so close, that I had to cut close. Surely someone can do better. Can you direct me to the fonts and logo? I know OT, but pm please I would greatly appreciate

Default Paramount is just failing...

This movie is a total mixed bag for me, I loved it very much in the theatre. However it was the very next week after seeing it and declaring i couldn't wait for the blu-ray that Paramount announced they were dropping Blu-Ray support. This film is really good, close to princess bride good (one of the few fantasy films i can compare it to). Its just not good enough to buy an Hd-Dvd player for. Even if i did get an HD-DVD player, without the uncompressed audio and everything, its just a sub-par release, with probably nil for bonus features. Even when paramount had Blu-Rays' they were always sub-par to most other studios' releases.

Format wars aside though, Paramount has just been shooting themselves in the foot on all this. They're marketing strategies are horrible (i saw ONE trailer for this film on G4, and that was AFTER my wife had told me about it after she had heard from her mother that it was a great film), they don't seem to have a focus on how to promote and manage the very thing that they are suppost to do... Sell Movies!!! They're cutting their high def base down even smaller by taking incentives to support only HD-DVD, and then they go ahead and offer sub-par releases, even for their good films.

Blu-Ray loyalties aside, even if Paramount dropped HD and went with my preffered format, i would still be irritated at them. They really need to start giving their High Def releases the Quality they deserve, no matter what you may think of the films critically... and they need to release MORE films, this is why they are teetering down at number 4 on the top selling studios list... or wait i think they are down to number 5 now.... at least in my book. The real losers are we the consumers. shame shame.

meh, i might just have to go against my principles and settle for the dvd... :-P

Paramount has already announced they will be increasing HD support in 2008. Beyond the small numbe of films they have brought to HD I have zero complaints with Paramount. I have been nothing but impressed with thier video quality and as far as I am concerned DD+ is perfectly suitable for HD DVD and I could care less if they ever release another TrueHD track again. Paramount simply understands that people like yourself who prefer lossless are such a minority that it will literally have an unnoticable effect on total sales by sticking with DD+.

Thier films can stand toe to toe with every other studios releases period and that is both for video and sound.

I have to agree, I also don't really care. I am very pleased with their releases so far and extremely satisfied.

I loved the movie too, they've also advertised it a lot better over here (where it goes on full release next week). I think it has a very english sensability about it though so it's easier to advertise this side of the Atlantic.

That's a relief. Now only Claire Dane's two facial expressions stand in my way. Yes, I am aware that I said Clare Danes and 'facial' in the same sentence.
