Default 'Casablanca' - HD DVD's First Classic

Release Announcement:
http://www.highdefdigest.com/news/sh...DVD_Titles/313

I know we've gotten some very cool vintage gems on HD DVD, but is 'Casablanca' not the first unequivocal classic to hit a next-gen format? Sounds like a cool release...

Indeed. I had been wondering for a long time which would be the first 1.33:1 B&W classic film out in HD DVD. And of course, Casablanca is an excellent choice.

Also it is kind of a statement. Warner is saying they don't agree with those that hidef is only for recent releases, and that vintage films in hidef can sell.

Never seen it?! And I thought I was bad for not owning it on DVD. Must-buy imo.

That honour would go to The Adventures of Robin Hood (1938), one of the greatest movies of the 20th Century.
