Default 'Keali'i Reichel - Live' -- pre-release buzz

I'll admit I've never heard of Alternative Distribution Alliance before, but apparently they're an indie music label owned by Warner Records, and they're debuting their first HD DVD with a music title called 'Keali'i Reichel - Live in Concert':

http://hddvd.highdefdigest.com/1154/...chel_live.html

The disc itself is a two hour live concert from popular Hawaiian music artist Keali'i Reichel.

Tech specs include 1080i/MPEG-2 video, Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround audio (448kbps), and there are two bonus featurettes.

Street date is October 23.

Wow... Talk about half-assing. And this is supposed to be honoring some one's career. Sad...

Well, this seems like a very low-profile release, so it is cool that they found it worthwhile to publish on either HD format at all, so I am not going to pick on them about specs. I am more concerned about the 1080i encode, though if it looks good, then I guess we won't be able to complain.

I'm going to assume that it was probably shot on 1080i video. The studio may not have a master any better than 448 kb/s either.

A lot of HD fans have gotten used to seeing 1080P as the top-of-the-line format for TVs, HD Players and discs. What folks often forget (and TV manufacturers don't remind us of) is that 720P and 1080i are the video broadcast standards
