Default 'The Departed' -- pre-release buzz

Warner has finally announced an official date for 'The Departed'

http://www.highdefdigest.com/news/sh...er_of_2006/419

No specs yet, but should be a great release. And maybe even a Best Picture Oscar?

Yep, definite buy for me. Haven't seen it yet, but with the stellar cast and Scorcese at the helm I can't see how it can go wrong!

It's a killer movie. If at all possible, try to avoid any spoilers as there are some pretty big surprises...

Wink

This movie is frickin' GREAT. It's Scorsese's best movie since Goodfellas, hands down. And it is totally entertaining, a lot of violence and crazy stuff, but a lot of humor moreso than in recent Scorsese movies.

What's with that $40 price? Hopefully, I'll be able to find it for $30 or under at Wally World.....

Looking forward to seeing this one, but why the dual sided, HD-DVD/DVD disc?

Yeah, this one's a combo. Oh well we get to see The Departed in high definition. What's better than that? There aren't a whole lot of movies I want in HD now more than this one.

Amazon has a pre-order now. I'd link it but this is my first post and I'm apparently not allowed to post urls. But just search for "The Departed HD DVD" and it'll be there.

$27.95.

Does anybody know if the special features will be the same as the SDVD special edition? I read the article on here about the special features but it doesn't mention specifics. I'm really just wondering about the following:

Feature-length TCM profile "Scorsese on Scorsese"
The Story of the Boston Mob: the real-life gangster behind Jack Nicholson's character
Crossing Criminal Cultures: how Little Italy's crime and violence influence Scorsese's work

edit: Just saw an article on dvdtimes.co.uk and it lists the last two on there. Sweet.

This is an excellent movie. But its not that I can see myself watching multiple times down the road. So this won't be a purchase for my Xbox 360 HD DVD player.
