Default 'Meet the Fockers' - High-Def Digest review

Peter's review of 'Meet the Fockers' is up. He says Universal has produced a pretty good catalog effort for this one on HD DVD. The transfer has some problems, but is generally bright and attractive. The audio is more standard, and the extras are a bit too frivolous for their own good, but with so few outright comedies hitting high-def these days, he says 'Meet the Fockers' is certainly worth a look.

I can't believe Meet The Fockers got a positive review for the movie itself. I enjoyed the first one for what it was, but #2 was gut wrenchingly bad.

At least it seems that Uni served up a less-than-awful (albeit not great) transfer...

I agree with Peter on this one. I liked Meet the Parents quite a bit, and enjoyed this one even more. Streisand and Hoffman were great.

I actually liked the first one better than the second one, but they are both great.

I'll agree with that sentiment, but I still thought the movie was lousy. One of the great things about the first is that every guy could totally put themselves in Ben Stiller's position and sympathize. In this one, that just isn't the case.

Take the whole thing with the sister's baby for instance. There is no reason in the world for that kid to not be with his parents throughout the course of the whole film (to the point that we don't ever see the parents). He's just there to manufacture situations that are supposed to generate laughs. There was no thought put into it any further that that. So, I am sorry, but I don't find that to be "clever." To me, it's just lazy.

There, you did it. You put me on my movie critic soapbox.

Yes, I f'ing love this movie! This one is more funnier. Especially the scene where Greg gets shocked. The first one is funny but this one is really funny!

they both are great movies. i laughed hard throughout both, especially in Fockers when they are eating dinner. I think i might pick it up. it might be nicer if they did a pack for the both of em at 40 bucks.

I guess it was easier for them to write out the kids parents for the sequel since the girl who played the sister passed away before filming. Might have felt weird to hire someone else to take her place for might have been a small role.

I almost sure that she didn't pass away until right around the time the film was released. I think that she didn't die before filming.

Yeah. I am sure an article can easily be found somewhere, but she died of a heart attack or something like that. It was a freak thing.
