Default Rambo: First Blood Part II Chinese "HD DVD"

    Hi everyone

Not sure if someone still does care about our beloved format but well, I do :-)

I have discovered this special release:

I have intentionally not written "HD DVD" as to be clear, this is a simple DVD release. Yes, it does look like a well made and real HD DVD, but unfortunately the disc does not contain any HD content. Nevertheless the package is awesome!

It will add some more pictures in a second and third post.

As you might notice, this is a full slip edition with lots of text in French language. The title is embosed and there is an inlay cover. The disc is pressed too. However, it's definitely a DVD.

I wonder if they also released more fake HD DVDs in China. I will try to find Rambo First Blood and Part 3 as they look pretty nice in my shelf.

I would like to point out that I basically reject bootlegs. Here I am only concerned with the beautiful fake packaging :-)

    Thanks for joining.

So is it coded as an HD-DVD but pressed onto a DVD-9? Have seen BDs made this way in the past - H264 codec but on a DVD-9.

Thanks for your post. No, it's a simple DVD with SD encoding. It does also play on my OPPO 103. Not sure why they marked it as HD DVD.

Really? This is strange. Even though I'm not logged in, I'm able to see the pics.

Some unscrupulous ebay sellers still sell "Blu-Rays" that are DVD5's or 9's. They're modern H264 codec but not on a blu ray itself. Obviously the reduced bit rate is quite noticeable.
