Default 'TMNT' - High-Def Digest review

Just posted Kenneth's review of 'TMNT.' While the film has its issues, he says it boasts some of the finest animated fight scenes and CG animation he's seen in a long time. Likewise, this HD DVD release is a technical wonder with an excellent video transfer and an impressive Dolby TrueHD audio mix.

Cool, I was hoping this disc would get good PQ & AQ reviews. I already ordered from amazon and it should be here tomorrow. I can't wait to watch this with the kids.

Too bad they didn't include a PiP feature comparing the blue-screen version to the final film.

I got this in the mail from HD Movie Source last Saturday & watched it immediatley. I wll agree that the Picture Qaulity per se is excellent, however the textures leave something to be desired. It seems the animators did not have an overall plan on how much texture to use, vis a vie, close ups & far off shots. Really scattershot in that repsect.

I did not find the story "too convoluted" however I have been a fan ever since I saw that Rafeal "Dirty Harry" poster in a college chums' room in '84.

I watched on a D2 hooked up to a Sony 5200ES, in turn connected to a Sont 60A2020. All components were supplied AC via a Belkin Power Console AV40

Yeah, the plot made sense to me. It's not like the comics or show explained the group breaking up and Leo going to South America. It's just something you have to take in and accept as the film moves along. As long as you've experienced these characters in any form, it should be an easy movie to follow.

Actually, that would be pretty cool, along with commentary from the director and/or cast.

From reading the review, it looks like the HD DVD does not have any audio commentaries available during the main feature.

What I would have REALLY liked to have seen included is a commentary (or special feature) from the original TMNT creators, Eastman and Laird.

I bought the hd/dvd instead of the blu ray cuz I was hoping hd would get some bonus features.. but alas.. didn't.. the special features were pretty sub par.. heck even disturbia had better features..

Overall I like the movie.. but Im getting tired of paying 34.99 for movies with absolutely nothing for special features.. how hard is it to add some cool features like storyboard or a cartoon?

Good point, they could have easily included a cartoon (or more) as a special feature seeing as though they have hundreds of TMNT episodes already made. The first origins cartoon episode would have been a good pick...

Blue-screen if the whole movie is CGI ??

I beleive the "stick your tongue out smiley"
was intended to show his comment was meant as "tongue in cheek", as in satirical.

I picked up the hd dvd version of TMNT yesterday morning at Hastings for 26.99 on sale, much better than the 35.99 that was on the price tag.
