Default 'Sea of Love' - High-Def Digest review

Kenneth's review of the 1989 Al Pacino/Ellen Barkin thriller 'Sea of Love' is up, and it isn't pretty. While opinions on the film itself are likely to differ, Kenneth says the poor video transfer and lackluster audio mix on this HD DVD make for a true high-def dud.

Those are some truly dismal review ratings. I won't even bother renting this one...

Lets hope they dont bulls up Carlitos Way

I do like Sea of Love but it does show its age but to just put it out on HD with no remaster does more to damage Universal and HD's rep then anything to do with how the movies aged

I already bought and received this one, though I haven't checked it out yet. I had not been expecting to be blown away by its PQ since it is fairly dated and was not a big budget movie. Still, I remember enjoying the movie and I don't regret buying in HD even if the upgrade is minimal.

I was working as a projectionist when this movie came out theatrically. I don't remember the film's picture quality being that great. In fact, I think it was a bit crappy. I wonder why they chose to release this film in HD, before some other much more important ones?

Probably just because of the name draw of "Al Pacino" - building up for a Scarface release (also why "Scent of a Woman" was likely released almost in conjunction).

Wow, that's scraping the bottom of the barrel. I'd much rather have The Devil's Advocate. (too bad that's Warner. )

I would also love to have "Devil's Advocate", on of my favorite horror movies and very intelligently done.

I'm getting the feelling that a lot of people here (not all, but alot) are seeing and buying some movies for the very first time simply because it comes out on HD DVD:

First off, I strongly disagree with this reviewer. Sea of Love is one of Pacino's very best and one of my favorite Pacino flicks. I'm surprised the PQ isn't that good because I caught this on HD net moves, I think, and was very impressed with the quality.

Anyway, it's a very good movie definitely rent it and take this reviewer's review with a very large grain of salt!

This movie was made in 1989 and by the same director, Martin Bregman as Scent of a Woman. Anyway, it's a great, gritty New York police drama/thriller.... at least give thse movies a rent or something before judging them based on this review....sorry but, to his credit Kenneth Brown acknowledges a good critical response but, whatever I love this flick simply because it's a good acting job from Pacino and generally a good movie. And no offense, but I would never take a critic's opinion to heart I would rent it and then judge for myself. Jeezus people, make up your own minds.

I don't know if you're referring to the PQ or what but the film is anything but a dud (Sea of Love).
