Default 'Hot Fuzz' - High-Def Digest review

No disc has ever earned a perfect overall score of five stars here at High-Def Digest, but there's a first time for everything...

According to Kenneth, it just doesn't get much better than this HD DVD release of 'Hot Fuzz.' Not only is the movie entertaining and satisfying, but the video transfer is gorgeous, the audio packs significant punch, and there are approximately eighteen hours of entertaining supplemental materials (including ten hours that are *exclusive* to this HD DVD edition).

All that for the (relatively) low list price of $39.98...

Default Maybe it's just me...

...but I watched it last night in a nice dark room and kept thinking the transfer was a little soft, almost blurry at times. Maybe it was the quick focal changes the director used or something, but to me it wasn't a 5-star release. I recently watched the first Matrix on the same setup in the same lighting conditions and thought it blew Hot Fuzz out of the water. Again, maybe it's just me...

Agree with everyone, this movie is great, the transer if great, the extras are great, and overall it makes for a great HD-DVD.

You don't have to feel bad about buying this one :-)

Have to say that this is a blow to the BD fanboys who insist on the the implicit superiority of Blu-ray and constantly criticize Universal's releases. Well, it is amazing how the much denigrated Universal manages to put out the first 5 star overall release on on any HD format...

Bought it last night, but haven't watched it yet. Of course, I saw it in theatres and loved it, but now I just can't wait to watch it again.

I'm a little confused as to how the "over-all score" is determined. Hot Fuzz's average score was 4.2 stars, but the over-all score was 5. Does this score have nothing to do with the others?

OMG, first time a 5/5 overall score, im GLAD i bought this before the reviews. This movie kicks ass. I knew the transfer would get more then 4.5.

This IS a must own, this is the first time i TOTALY agree with the review. I would give the movie itself a 4.5 though

After reading the review, I've placed an order for this one.

the review lists the movie as pg-13, when in fact the movie is rated R. It might be a good idea to update that.
