The Bourne Identity
Darkman
The Last Samurai
The Getaway

... If the sellers on Amazon Uk Market Place do not cancel my orders again for "material not available": it happened to me twice, order confirmed, credit card charged, reimbursement granted because the material is not available anymore.

Is that normal ? Has anyone else had the same problem? I normally order from the sellers and not from the main Amazon listing because the price is much lower (I bought Darkman for about 13 pounds with shipping, about 19 euro), but I am afraid that with the increased number of request they are getting unreliable.

Just ordered Casino from Amazon.
It's being shipped from the US to the UK, and it's still 50% cheaper than buying it from my local store.
Considering how much money you can save by importing, I would have thought that being region free would be a larger factor in the 'format war'

I think it will be a bigger factor as the market and awareness grows. Region Free releases is a benefit to all customers around the world, even in the US - there are many videophiles who import titles from around the world. For example, "Lost Highway" is only available in 4:3 in the US, but can be imported as anamorphic from France - but I need a region free player for that. Just the market is too small for that to be a benefit.

A lot of the Blu-ray releases ended up dropping region protection, most likely in order to compete with HD DVD's advantage in this respect (many of the early BD releases had region protection and many still do), but if HD DVD went
away, there would be no incentive to keep doing so.

I bought "The Last Samurai" from Best Buy a couple weeks ago when they had it for 14.99, and the only other HD DVD I got this month was "The Untouchables" from HDMovieSource. It's been a very slow month for me movie wise, because I got a new cell phone, a 360 Elite, and go on vacation next week.
