I have to agree that the Japanese discs are easily the best of my collection as far as transfers go. Chronicles of Riddick from Japan actually made me go "WOW" even after almost 3 years of watching HD DVD and watching a LOT of discs. That is probably my "showpiece" disc at this point as it is just amazing (expensive but amazing)

You got this lot from ebay, right? I had the page up ready to bid, but then I got busy on another site and forgot about it. I ended up clicking back to it about 3 or 4 minutes after it ended. Oh well, at least another HDD member got it.

I got Patlabor 1 and Patlabor 2 on Monday from HMV Japan. They come with both the DVD and HD DVD versions in their own DVD-size cases, which are housed together in a very heavy cardboard sleeve, along with a 20 page booklet. Also, each has a few goodies inside the cases (I checked out Patlabor 1 and saw a nice 4x7 TrueHD sticker in one of them).

I also have US Wings of Honnemaise (this is also available as an import) and it's exactly the same packaging as the Patlabor set, but quite a bit cheaper of course. Each Patlabor runs about $90 including shipping, so no good deals here.

My last purchased HD DVD was Heroes Season 1 for $30 on amazon. The price difference was just too great with the blurays. Though that purchase kind of cemented for me that indeed it is going to be thee last HD DVD I will ever buy. I now have family with bluray, I would love to lend out some of my high def content such as heroes s1 to get them into it but obviously I will not be able to do that.

So despite the many good deals that can be found on hd dvd... I have to say good bye to the format completely.

I did win this off Ebay and it included Bourne Supremacy and 300 both of which I have. I was surprised that I was able to get it so cheap and along with a 15% off coupon from Ebay and selling off some of my other HD DVDs, I barely paid anything for the main 2 titles I wanted.

Very nice additions, I'd love to hear some impressions for Patlabor when you get around to watching them.
