An oddity I just noticed in the Universal titles is that the U.S. version of Atonement is actually DD+ @ 3024 kbps instead of the usual 1536 kbps. The EU version is 1536 though.
Funny because the reviews here make a big deal how the HD DVD is so lacking in spec and how it affects the AQ.Last edited by bruceames; 05-07-2012 at 10:26 AM.

Atonement EU also has a different video encode than the US version. Probably a rare exception to the general rule that Universal, Warner and Paramount releases outside of the US have the same encode. I suspect it's because the EU version was released 8 days before the US one (it has a file creation date of 2 weeks earlier as well). Bitrate is higher for the US version. Looks to have the same package of extras though.
I'm going to check for a trend (having same encodes or not) of non-exclusive EU titles that were released before the US version vs. those that were released at the same time or afterwards. I know Mr. Beans Holiday was released in the UK well before the US version and I have both versions, so I'll check that next...
BTW, what other titles were released first as imports and then later in the US, but by the same major studio?Last edited by bruceames; 05-07-2012 at 09:29 PM.

Bruce, sorry for my late reply because of your specifications-thread. This is awesome man! Thanks for your great efforts, still, you must be crazy
Go on with the other studios, looking forward to see what more techn. stuff you will discover, especially the comparison between US and foreign releases.

Hey Blerim, glad you like it. It's a lot of work (sometimes painful, ripping off the shrink wrap from movies I haven't watched yet, lol), but a lot of fun too because of the interesting stuff I discover. I can't wait to get to the imports and those in common with the US releases especially.

Paramount/Dreamworks specs added. Weinstein and remaining U.S. releases next.
So far there have been 8 bad discs, all have been replaced except the TV show discs

Sorted by Country in alpha order, then by studio/distributor in alpha order, then finally by file creation date in chrono order.

Hey Bruce, maybe I am wrong and didn't notice them but, you have only listed Till Bronner as SPV release in Germany. As far as I know, there exist two other HD DVDs from this studio:
Motörhead - Stage Fright [HD DVD]
Ufo - Showtime [HD DVD]

Also, the Robbie Williams HD DVD was released in Germany, not in the UK - in my opinion. EMI is a German studio who also released the Herber Grönemeyer disc.

Hi Blerim, I have Motorhead and UFO classified us US releases, and I haven't finished those yet. I know some music HD DVD were released internationally and so it does create a little confusion for me, but if the main distributor can be tracked down to a particular country, then it should be classified under that country, IMO. Since the main label is SPV on those, then I'll put them in the German section. Also, I'll move Robin Williams as well.
Thanks for the corrections buddy! I take very seriously having the titles be classified under the right distributor/studio and sometimes it's confusing when there are other sub labels listed on the case. I depend on you guys to help me put everything where it belongs.
