Thumbs up more toys to play with

I'm so excited for universal's web features on HD_DVD. I hope That they will make me prouder than i was when i saw The fast and the furious:tokyo drift on HD-DVD. I love all the little things you can do with HD that u can't with blu-ray. especially the video timeline and the pop up in movie menus. it just runs smoother than blu ray. did everyone do the Blood Diamond survey yet or look at the maps of conflict? I'm going to go broke this fall

This sounds like a fun idea. I can't wait to see what they come up with.

fantastic idea, their new day and day releases should be all released in combo formats, that is eliminating the dvd-only versions while keeping the price low as the dvd version.

Agreed. Ideas like this and implementing them faster than their competitor is the reason why hd dvd is still in the game and why people are buying the format. I cant wait to see this in action.

I do not like combos but If HD DVD could accomplish the 50 GB disc and the studios decide to have standards of having all the new releases with lossless audio I think that both formats will coexist without problems, like a good HD family.

So does downloadable content negate the difference in disk size between HD-DVD and bd? I'm wondering if content is streaming or if it is saved in the players persistant storage? Anyone know?

The only reason I bought Blood Diamond was for the internet enabled features - LOL and my TV is even acting up - haven't been able to watch it yet! Hopefully it will be resolved in the next few days - but I am very excited.

i could only imagine that it is streaming and that is the whole point of having your player hooked up to the internet

I'm not a huge fan of combos persay...but it would save me money buying one format and letting me watch it in HD in my media room (which I prefer) and my wife to watch it in the living room in SD (which she prefers) w/o having to buy 2 copies of everything!

Now all they have to do is start releasing titles in Dolby TruHD or DTS-HD-MA already!!!

Good news indeed. I was curious to see what Blood Diamond would offer in terms of web-enabled content, and while it didn't blow me away, it did make me realize that this new generation of media needs to do new things like this to really differentiate itself from the trusty ol' DVD format. So it's good to see Universal getting onboard with all their new titles.
