Default 'Hairspray' - Pre-release buzz

New Line has confirmed to High-Def Digest that the distributor is planning to launch its Blu-ray and HD DVD support with the release of 'Hairspray.' Based on the current theatrical-to-video window of roughly three-to-four months, a fourth quarter 2007 time frame seems likely.

As I'm sure many other people will chime in and agree, I could care less about this title specifically, but I sure hope it sells well so that New Line will continue supporting hi-def and put out many more titles shortly thereafter.

I saw it today and with great reviews, I wasn't surprised how much I enjoyed it and of course the Soundtrack was amazing/a blast! Also like most reviews, I agree that we didn't need the Pheiffer, Walken and Travolta love triangle and that they did slowed the flow.

I'm looking forward for a Reference, DOLBY TrueHD and IME from New Line.

BTW, this knocked Live Free or Die Hard as my Second Favorite (Transformers is my top) movie this year.

Why do companies have to be so secretive?

I just want them to announce Spawn and LotR so I can get on with my life already. And maybe the Austin Powers trilogy as well.

FINALLY.

New Line is my most wanted company. I'd almost trade Warner for New Line.

BRING IT:

Blade 1 & 2...3 if they must
Lord of the Rings 1/2/3
Mortal Kombat. The sequel can rot in hell though.
Nightmare on Elm Street films
Freddy vs. Jason
Friday
Rush Hour 1/2/3
Se7en
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles

And of course the Hulk Hogan Holy Trilogy: No Holds Barred, Suburban Commando, and Mr. Nanny. Or not.

Yes, yes it would.
Although Blade Trinity wasn't the best, it was worth it to see Triple H in there, he was awesome.

Well it looks as if New Line will not be releasing "Hairspray" on HD DVD until next year because HD DVD has not region code and is still showing internationally. Beats me....Also the Blu ray will have a PiP feature. So this raises the question as to what will be New Line first HD DVD movie?

Oh boy, New Line is sitting on an HD goldmine, and yet "Hairspray" is thought to be their upcoming super-buzzed about initial offering?......Hairspray?!?!?

They'd make a much bigger splash with super Lord of the Rings uber extended versions, but nooooo........

Somebody call Pinhead, New Line execs need some good hard flaying, Cenobite-style.

the problem lies in the fact that new line sells distribution rights to its movies to other companies throughout the world. new line's contracts prevent new line from releasing home-video versions that can be imported/exported to countries where movies haven't even played in theatres yet.

on the other hand, the spokesman also mentioned that hd dvd could go day-and-date when the reverse happens--that is, when new line buys distribution rights for movies that it didn't make on its own.
