Enjoy the party while it lasts. The regulating body that sets standards for DVD in general (including high def), is drawing up the industry specifics needed to implement regional coding for HD-DVD. I suppose that such a good thing couldn't be expected to last.

I certainly hope that the Studio Canal release of T2 mimicks the Blu-Ray double-dip coming in January.

Army of Shadows is an amazing film -- I saw it at the Film Forum earlier this year. Melville's use of color to set mood is up there with Kurosawa's use in Ran.
I believe that Studio Canal also had Melville's Le Samorai and Le Cercle Rouge in the pipe for European HD DVD release. Both of these titles have been released by Criterion in the US on standard DVD. (as has Ran been, and I believe Army of Shadows is on their plate for 2007). -

Brotherhood of the Wolf and T2 would be awesome to have on HD DVD. So why don't they release the movies in the US?

Holy crap, RAN!
And why are these imports? -

Because Studio Canal owns the distribution rights over in France and are releasing them on HD DVD. I'm not entirely sure who owns the distribution rights to Ran in the states.

Rambo & Total Recall are real scoops for HD-DVD importers in the US and UK, mine are on order from amazon.fr.

As the SC version of RAMBO 1: FIRST BLOOD has gotten spotty reviews, it does look like the version out of Australia may get a different encode....
That might be the disc to get... release is 2/7.

I was just wondering where you got the cover photos for the releases, I saw a site recently with covers like this posted, but I did not bookmark it and I have since lost where i found it. The site I went to listed the HDDVDs upcoming internationally as covers when you clicked ont he cover it would link you to a site where you could buy the title. THank you for any help you can give me on this I really appreciate it.
