Thumbs up 'Lady in the Water' -- High-Def Digest review

Wow -- a movie I actually liked for once, but everyone else hated:

Pretty good disc. The movie just looks drab, though, and the soundtrack is quiet enough that even a Dolby TrueHD track can't elevate it. Still, I liked this enough overall to give it the thumbs up.

Good review, I liked it too, for what i was - a fairy tale. Though I thought the underlying political message rather simplistic.

Peter,

Dolby Digital EX is matrixed. The TrueHD will be the exact same matrix-encoded source, so by putting your receiver into surround-back mode you achieve the desired effect.

So, in short, they're the same soundtrack in a different codec.

Can't get this disc to play with my Xbox add-on, first problem I've had. Have about 15 other discs that play without issues.

Anyone else having this issue? I thought about picking this up tonight but might hold off then.

Yeah, blame M.Night for that. I've heard alot of HD reviewers are having issue with the style he was going for with the film and how it transfered to HD. But like you, I still enjoyed the flic and I won't be to disappointed not having the HD wow-factor when I pick it up.

I have this movie and I really love it. Mine works just fine on my add-on. Normal loading time, everything was great.
