'Babel,' 'Payback' -- Paramount Finally Back in the Game

Hopefully they'll be a bit faster with the releases as the new year begins. Been such a drought. And I'm worried about Warner, too... slowed to a trickle.

Good to see Babel in the line-up -- I was a huge fan of Amores Perros and 21 Grams but managed to miss Babel in the theatres (yes, I know, I can probably still go out and see it... but at this point I'll just wait until February for the disc).

Awesome! This is good news! I'll definitely get Payback. I love that movie! It will be hard to say no to Babel as well. It looks extremely depressing. That's the only reason I'm iffy about it (re-watchability). I may just rent it.

I wonder if the directors cut will have more Lucy Lui. I cannot get enough of her in that black outfit.

I wouldn't call it depressing ("melancholic" maybe!). I WOULD call it a fantastic film. Saw this as part of the London Film Festival a few weeks back, and thought it was VERY powerful. Highly recommended!

Edited to add: It's probably worth warning people that despite all the focus being on Brad Pitt and Cate Blanchette, they actually have the smallest roles in the film.
