Ive already hadone problem with myPS3 where Ive had to send it in because audio was skipping on DVD's and Blu rays, I better not have another problem playing movies because of this crap. It seems Sony just seems to be doing everything half assed now a days. I mean I have both a HD DVD player, and a BR player but I seriously hope BR goes belly up.

What makes it even more confusing is that from what I understand, players that were already on sale before the October 31 deadline can continue not to meet the new profile specification. So there will still be ooutdated players even after that point, just new ones coming to the market must meet the new specs.

something really weird, i saw a DREAM about HD DVD, it was a news that said Panasonic $499 HD DVD player , so it meant they've gone neutral. Damn, this war is getting weird

They had a small snippet on CNN in the Money Matters segment. I just caught the tail end of it.

I thought both of these articles were basicly old news, or did I miss something in each? I guess the possibility of the PS3 not supporting BD-J 1.1?

This isn't the smackdown forum. No need to "sensationalize" the topic. This is ooooold news anyway.

the thing is, this i dont want to pay my hard earned to a company that that is showing again and again it doesnt want to play by the rules, i find it sad and pathetic that if true, they resort to pilfering other technolgies they dont have the patent for. seriously if this turns out to be true, they will prob be able to keep makeing the discs as they will make some sort of either big pay out to this company to keep from going to trial or they will be orderd by the court to pay out. how much easier and not to mention Ethical would it have been to just license the tech from the company to begin with, im sure in the end it would have been a lot cheaper for them. of course corperations are allso innocent until proven guilty but with sony's Electronics divisions track record, of loseing these sort of trials i think this will turn out the same way.
i was reading about the kodak incident, its like come on you dont think your going to get found out when you decide to pilfer KODAK.
oh and the headline for this thread is a little oversensationalized, even though i do think that the second article could end up upsetting alot of early blueray supporters especially those that shelled out the 1000 for the machines. i know it makes me glad that i decided not to keep the phillips bluray player that i got at walmart in baldwin hills (los angeles ca) on sale back in may for 400.
i was a little confused though is this article indicating the ps3 would be affected by this or not and they simply will be able to upgrade it with some sort of firmware. -

I am neutral in this "format war" so I could care less I see no differnce between blu-ray, or HD-DVD as far as PQ goes and that is all that concerns me. I will buy what movies I want and right now blu-ray has more that I want. Both Foramts will be around for a long time. If someone asked me to pick one I would pick blu-ray because it has more movie I want not because I think it is the superior format. Overall I wish this format war would just go away.
