I'll quote that post here, and this can be the general discussion thread for this forum, since there may not be people who want to post in a general discussion forum

We started getting emais asking about HD releases almost immediately after we posted news that Smallville season 6 would be released on September 18. Now we have some exclusive info from Warner Bros - they'll release season 6 on Blu-ray and HD DVD on September 18, the same day as the DVD.

Both sets retail for $79.98, and contain the same content:
Green Arrow: The Legend of the Emerald Archer
Smallville Legends: Justice & Doom
Smallville Big Fans

Smallville Legends: The Oliver Queen Chronicles
The Making of Smallville Legends: The Oliver Queen Chronicles
Deleted Scenes
Both sets will contain 1080p video (1.78:1), with the Blu-ray release sporting a Dolby Digital 5.1 track, and the HD DVD release containing a Dolby Digital Plus 5.1 audio track. Blu-ray flexes its additional capacity on this set; the Blu-ray release is 4 discs while HD DVD is 5.
I'm a little disappointed that it won't contain any IME content at all, even if it was redundant content in the special features section. I really enjoyed the one IME episode in season 5, and was hoping that in 6, since it was so heavy on cameos, that IME would be a lot more prevalent. It's a few months off, so some things may change, but I really hope they showcase what HD-DVD can do.

Also, not to bash blu-ray, but all that talk about extra space, and it only saves them one disc. Wheee.

I actually like having more discs as long as the price is the same. If one gets ruined, I still have more left. I've had so many Simpsons dvds go bad, and I'm too lazy/unwilling to buy it again for one disc, but I still have more episodes on other discs. Hopefully we never get to one disc tv shows on Blu-ray/HD DVD unless they are cheap like Weeds.

Why? It's one less disc to change on blu-ray. Oh no, we're all doomed!

Is it really that big a deal? Frankly I find it funny that if you add up all the extra space the BD-50's have over the HD-30's, they only equate it out to one less disc.

I totally agree with all of you who want to know where seasons 1-4 are. I've got 1-5 on standard def already but I'd still rebuy considering this was filmed in hd from the start.

And Valadez...Definately check out Heroes. It had it's throw away eps but all in all it's a great concept and a well executed idea. I would imagine most Smallville fans would enjoy Heroes as well. Especially since you can start your season collecting in HD and not worry about the whole where are the earlier seasons thing.

I have Seasons 1-5 on DVD so I'll just continue to let my mom get me the standard DVD version for xmas like the past 4 years. I love smallville but Im to picky about how my collection looks and it would piss me off to have 4 seasons in DVD and 3 seasons in HDDVD so for my sanity I will have all 7 seasons on DVD.

*unrelated* EVERYONE should buy Heroes on HD-DVD

This very web site says that both, HD DVD and Blu-ray, will be on 4 disc's. Am I missing something?

the preview on this very digest site had mentioned that the br version would have one less disc since they can hold more data..

i also heard that the hd version would have something extra.. not sure..

regardless i already have this preordered on hd dvd and should be shipping any time now..

i cant wait.
