Deadlands 1 HD DVD Project - Early stages - YEP... Its happening

Well i suppose they will be very soon... when i found out there was 100 left I went wild on every site that has a thread about the HD DVD and posted a link and update. I am sure those 100 won't last too long. Have faith in me Giz... =)

If I am able to take a $6,000 zombie film and make it as known as it is... I know I can push 100 HD DVD's by saying one simple thing... (Way pay hundreds on eBay when you can get it for $30.00 =)

The numbers are whack. I ordered 4 copies and the 2 I just got a few days ago were lower than the ones I got 2 months ago. Not sure if the 100 left is even right...but I got my copies, so whatever.

Giz, for the accounting, each time a unit is sold the bar code is scanned in house and a report is generated the details the number of units sold. All but 11 units were sold when everyone asked for refunds... 222 refunds were issued, then I started pointing people towards Anthem when discs were getting made. As of the last statement there are about 100 discs to be made/shipped. Not bad considering the lost sales.

Deadlands 2 is still available from the company that did them originally, though some refuse to buy from them. They have a few left or did last week if you want one. Worth having the complete set.

Yeah reaper... I wasn't sure i was going to do it either but... Zelda kept asking, as did many others. My self for the Blu-Ray I put Deadlands 1 on it (work print version), but wasn't sure I could pull this off.

Plus... even as the films director I don't like Deadlands 1 very much. I mean it was my first flick so i will always have a special place for it, but it didn't come out as I envisioned it. You know a day doesn't go by that I don't think about re-shooting the whole frigging movie from top to bottom. after two films and each having their own set of issues... I know what it will take to fix it... and nothing in all the raw footage current shot will fix it... it needs to be remade.

Anyhoo... at least those who buy it can see where it all started.

In other news, talked to the original distributor for Deadlands 1, who I am technically still in contract with until 2012 on Deadlands 1. He will be doing the HD DVD Authoring, I told him about the project and he seems excited. As you all know this will be an upres like Deadlands 2... While Dead 2 had a miniscule amount of HD footage... Deadlands 1 has ZILCH that was shot 100% Standard Definition.

However, good news.... I am going to make a new special feature about the making of Deadlands 1, and that WILL be shot High Def, so at least something on the disc will have a true HD source.

However... this may happen, but most likely not.... You guys may end up with an all new Deadlands 2 HD DVD as well... The distributor for 1 is helping me release 2 on DVD, and he said he could author both films, but I am not going to jump the gun and say That WILL happen, because well Deadlands 2 is already on HD DVD... but it is possible.

However, the artwork will be re-done to reflect both films and their special features... and as I said a slip case will be put together as well.

Right now I am in the process of building a new PC for editing so once it is built I will start jumping on the new features and dig around the footage I still have on Hard drives and find scenes I cut out.

That is big news - go on, 500 copies of the new Deadlands 2: Trapped unrated and extended edition, and what about 100 copies for Michelles film Damaged

All being well I should be able to secure the media, and this would be awesome for release in 2011.

Thanks guys... Just to avoid anything like Deadlands 2's HD DVD fiasco I will not be asking for funding upfront... I see the guys behind smoker's are getting some feedback and having been there before I will wait and pay as much as I can upfront... I can tell you this much.

Authoring will not begin until october, but I did get some nice Dual Disc HD DVD cases today (1000 of them)... also sent off some pics for a friend to do the artwork. Otherwise... until the stock and the extra burners arrive I don't want to allude to or promise anything I cannot deliver on. However, you know I will give you guys updates as i get them...

Just out of curiosity... is there anything from the Deadlands 1 DVD or Deadlands 2 DVD you guys want to see carried over onto the HD DVD... it won't hurt to add some DL2 features on the DL1 HD DVD because not a lot of features were done for it.... I am however set to film a new featurette on Sept 17th and 24th for the HD DVD of DL1 that focuses ont he locations used and cast interviews.

Packaged in a dual disc HD DVD case eagerly awaiting the HD DVD version of Deadlands 2 unrated and extended version, for those that don't want to open their copies of the original Deadlands 2: Trapped HD DVD.
