Has anyone seen "Galopagos" when it was broadcast or on DVD? I'm wondering how it compares to Planet Earth. I'll probably buy it anyway, but I'm just curious.

Planet Earth was absolutely incredible! The only reason I haven't bought it yet is that Discovery still shows it on the regular, and I have about half of it left still on my DirecTV hard drive. I know the quality of the HD DVD will be even more spectacular though ... maybe this holiday season I'll hint at someone to buy it for me ...
Galapagos was one I missed on it's initial run, and haven't seen it on since, but the footage I saw looked incredible too.

Bottom line people shoudnt compare anything with Planet Earth except maybe The Blue Planet as they are lliterally in an entirely separate leauge then every other nature documenatry out there even the ones by BBC. I own almost ever BBC documentary that is available, probably well over 100 of them including the Trials of Life, The Life of Mammals, The Life of Birds, Life in the Undergrowth Etc.. as well as most of the major documentaries by the Discovery Channel and National Geographic and again Blue Planet and Planet Earth are literally in a totally different catagory in terms of quality and you really cannot compare them to normal documentary series and by normal I mean ones that dont literally have 40+ million dollar budgets and over 500 of the worlds best nature people running around the globe for years and years aquiring footage which 99.9% of the documentaries made dont have. Galapagos was a very entertaining film and has some great HD shots as well but its nothing compared to Planet Earth so if your looking for another Planet Earth type experience then this is certainly not it however if your farmiliar with most of BBC's nature documentaries on DVD and you find them enjoyable then you will find this enjoyable as well.
