Default 'Last Starfighter' -- pre-release buzz

Universal has announced two new titles for HD DVD release on September 18:

Both 'Last Starfighter' and 'For the Love of the Game' will include Dolby TrueHD tracks, and all the same extras as the standard-def DVD versions.

This is a must upgrade for me. Groundbreaking for it's time, along with Tron. Can't wait to see the "Death Blossum" in HD.

That leather/poop-faced alien's wheeze of excitement ("HHHHAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!") whenever the protagonist in Last Starfighter blew up one of the bad guys will live with me forever. I still pull that noise once in a while to amuse a friend.

Know how I knew I was a grown-up? When technology had caught up enough so you could download a fan-made version of the game from the film that was identical to what is shown in the movie. I still have it on my hard drive today.

God I wish they would give this the treatment it is calling out for. Where is some extras?????!!!!!!!!! Obviously they know this is an 80's cult classic or they would not release it in HD. Come on Universal. Btw, first post!!!

I want last star fighter in HD because i dont have it (its one if several older movies ive been wanting but couldnt find) & it would be new to me because i never seen it in the actual 1.85:1 (2.4:1) framing all ife ever seen it in is the standard 1.33:1 ratio when it was originally shown on TV. the last time i remember watching it was back in '93 (on like HBO or SHO). Ive never seen any of the addicinal stuff so it will add to the experence & knowlage of how the move was made....

I got this disc today and I'm sad to say the transfer is dreadful. It's washed out and full of grain. Looks very tired and in need of restoration.

No extras on the disc either, aside from a commentary track. It does at least though, have a TruHD soundtrack, which sounds ancient and very hollow.

I guess the place I ordered it from must have shipped it early. If you really want me to post a picture to prove to you I have it, I guess I can.
