Thumbs up 'Hulk' -- High-Def Digest review

Finally got this week's new titles from Universal:

http://hddvd.highdefdigest.com/hulk.html

I know the movie is not beloved, but this disc looks and sounds fantastic. Plenty of extras, too. No exclusive HD content, but this is up there with my favorite demo discs, absolutely.

Great review Peter. Can't wait to take a look at this one hopefully tomorrow if not Thursday.

Did Peter just drop the F Bomb or do my eyes deceive me?

Well Hulk wasn't my favorite of movies but if the HD quality is stellar then it's a worthy purchase because of Jennifer Connelley

I just watched this and, as I posted in a separate thread, I just wanted to put in my $.02 that this is a must buy in terms of video quality. It is hard to imagine the picture looking any better.

This is by far the best looking HD DVD I have seen yet. This is an incredible transfer.

Very curious to see this soon.

My top 3 PQ transfers are,

1. King Kong
2. ATL
3. Sahara

I'll be very surprised if it looks just as good as those 3.

Haha, yes I did use the F-bomb. It is fun to swear sometimes -- kinda feels a bit... naughty.

And Krammer, I don't know -- I do think 'Hulk' rivals all three of your choices. Definitely give it at least a rent, just to compare.

Oddly, King Kong doesn't look that great to me. For me, my top 3 are:

1. Batman Begins
2. Chronicles of Riddick
3. Aeon Flux (not a bad movie)

Fantastic - I actually really enjoyed this movie and thought it was more intelligent than most. It's great news that the disc pq is top drawer!

Just watched this. *FANTASTIC* image *but*, contrary to what the reviewer says, there is edge enhancement in this film in a number of places. I was surprised and disappointed by this as it marred what is otherwise a clear reference title and made me wonder whether the astonishing image I was seeing was because it was artificially enhanced. I'm hoping this is in the master and not applied during the VC-1 encoding.

A scene to check - Nick Nolte sat in the chair in the hospital when Eric Bana is in bed. Check Nolte's trousers - halos are clear around his legs and shoes. Plenty of other scenes too.

Equipment: Toshiba XA1. Projection Design Cineo 3+ 1080p projector. Image width 136".

Didn't notice any EE. I did notice a few specs of grain but hardly worth mentioning.

HD Video - Reference
HD Audio Dolby Digital Plus - 8/10

Saw this on HD DVD for the first time tonight (why wait for the Blu-ray?). My only complaint was a slight presence of noise in some dark scenes but it's a minor one. I will *not* be returning to the film to look for EE.
