In all honesty I dont think so unless you stumble upon one on Ebay and get it for a good price. Its a pretty rare disc and the few I have seen have gone up in price since the fall of the format.

That's true, this disc is still available in a couple of online stores at MRSP prices (including also Amazon Japan) but I'm not aware of any cheaper sources. Some other stores no longer have it available (e.g. HMV Japan and Xploited Cinema). It was probably pressed in pretty limited volumes on HD DVD. This has never been well available in 2nd hand sources in Japan either.

I got mine on release day from Amazon JP, at that time it was at least discounted a bit from the MRSP Already then it went out of stock pretty fast but they got some additional volumes afterwards.

Thanks for the help and input. I knew it might be more but the $50-$60 range is too much. Thanks again.

I finally bit the bullet and ordered Afro Samurai on from Amazon Japan. I've tried Ebay, the HD DVD forum marketplace here, but couldn't find a copy anywhere. I consider this title too be pretty rare, so I broke down and shelled out the bucks for it. I could've gone into Best Buy and bought the for dirt cheap compared to the Japanese , but where's the fun in that? lol

P.S.- I bought the last copy Amazon Japan had.

Glad you got the last copy. I think the next copy that sells on ebay will fetch a higher price than what you paid for it.

You scored big! I've been trying to find a used one for sale for over a month with no luck! Fact is, the Afro Samurai is rare and hard to come by at a decent price.

cdjapan remains a good site to pick up Afro Samurai from.
Currently it is weighing in at $57 and that used to include shipping but not any more... However, you do get a 500 yen discount for use on your next purchase.
Shipping (as I found out from them a while back) is pretty quick too.

I agree, I always prefer the HD DVD version. I wish I had the underworld series in HD DVD, I had to settle for the BD version.
