UPDATE:
ok I got a surprise today--the dude from avs finally responded to my pm.
He said that he knows of no Russian websites that import to the US.
He also says that he is a member here at HDD, but that he forgot his password.
I sent him a response asking if he had seen any of the Russian HD DVDs in person, and if he knew of any sites that ship anywhere in Europe or the UK.
I'll report back when he responds.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed............. cool news Arkadin. The best scenario would be he does a group buy from Russia. I doubt this will happen, but you never know.

The Russian 's are like the Holy Grail of the format, I've yet to see or hear of anybody in the United States owning any of them.

I have tried about 30 different ways to get those discs and have yet to even get a glimmer of hope on them. let us know if anything comes about it. There seems to be a listing anyway for 7 of them total

see the thread in bd import forum on the Russian bd recently released.
there is a link in that thread to a Russian forum.
there's no doubt in my mind this would be the best way to possibly get info on these releases and perhaps arrange a sale.
now I'm not saying this will be easy, but somebody must know English on there.

Hehe I have even gone to the point of emailing random people on Ebay that sell Russian DVDs and asking them if they will get the discs for me I have one more possible lead and then I may try the forums. I was really trying to deal with someone somewhere that gave me at least a small sense of security so have been avoiding PMing random folks on message boards so far especially since these discs are not especially cheap (or weren't last time I looked at Ozon etc) and if possible I want all 7 Sending $400 to some random person I don't know just chills me a bit

Hopefully you can get them without having to take a personal trip to Moscow. I don't think anyone outside of Russia has ever got one. You'd think you'd see them on european ebays or something. Whats so damn hard about getting them out of Russia? I was talking to someone in Russia but he ended up blowing me off.

He probally got the guy I was trying to get them from to get them for him. I was trying to get a buiness going with that guy. Whoever puts them on ebay first will probally make some money. I was gonna front him the money and split profit with him. He must have got a better offer. Oh well. I think most of HD DVD buying craze is dying. Blu-ray will be so big by the time they get out of Russia they won't sell for much. Judging by the german group order people want to buy steelbook BD imports not HD DVDs. Power of Fear is the only one I'd spend a nice chunk of change on just to have a Russia title. I guess the PQ sucks and they have 2.0 audio.

naah I don't think it's anything as grandiose as all that.
I highly doubt there's any big $$ to be made on Russian HD DVDs.
sure a few obsessives on here would buy a few titles, but I mean c'mon.
Hopefully Tormond will be able to score a few of these for the members that really crave them.
Hopefully Tormond hasn't charged up a yacht already from his Russian HD DVD profits.
