In all seriousness, Amazon UK had refused to list an HD DVD version un til now, though the BD version has been up for pre-order for several weeks.

Nasty looking price as well - forty-one quid?

But then I guess I've been spoiled by recent prices.

Would be terrific if BBC puts this out on .

I pre-ordered it. Now my pre-order reads:

items Ordered 1 of: Torchwood - Series 1 - Complete [HD DVD] [2006] [Blu-ray]

And when I click it, it just shows the listing. Time to cancel.

Torchwood just might make it out after all. The BBC Shop put up a page for the , and is taking pre-orders for June 30 2008 release -

http://www.bbcshop.com/Science-Ficti...invt/bbchd0016

£38.49. When I looked up their shipping rates, it said £7.50 to the US, but when I placed my pre-order, it didn't charge me anything for shipping, £38.49 total.

I'm surprised they accepted your order as they didn't ship to U.S. or Japan at least before. Even now the list of countries they deliver to doesn't include U.S. nor Japan:

http://www.bbcshop.com/scat/delivery...eswheretodeliv

Their page says that you should order from the U.S. store if you want something delivered to U.S. but of course the U.S. store doesn't list the UK HD DVD releases...

I tried to order from there once but my order was rejected on the basis that they don't ship to Japan. The rejection happened already as I was placing the order.

It's a good indication that they have listed it though, as it might come out on HD DVD after all then

I guess it'll take a double miracle for me to get this from bbcshop (first one for them to actually obtain this canceled title to sell, and the other for them to kindly ship it to me in the good old USA for free ), but it doesn't hurt to give it a shot since they don't charge your card until it ships.

Cool, I need to check those other UK sources to see if they get it.
I'll diffidently be buying this even though I not that big a trochwood fan.

EDIT

HVM.com still has Torchwood series 1 up for preorder

Play.com still has coming soon.

Yeah, Dave Shipley - but I think he's only willing to do it for members of The Bomb Shelter. He lives in the U.K., so if the BBC does release this on , he's likely to receive the shipment directly from the BBC Shop.

HMV.co.uk is also taking pre-orders & will ship to the U.S. for £4.50 ($9) for each title, but at £47.99 it's a little pricey - works out to $105 shipped.

I just joined a couple of weeks ago; a lot of nice folks, but the thing I don't like about Yahoo groups is that there's no separate forums or threads, just one main message thread, so it's hard to keep track of info & people.

There's a lot of Purple folks there but, yes, the anti-blu folks who are very vocal about it.
