Default Zavvi.co.uk HD DVD "Price Crash"

Robson posted this down in the HD DVD bargain's thread, though it worth re-posting in the Imports thread:

Some nice price reductions at Zavvi (UK) online, particularly Bleak House. Delivery is a horrendous £4.95 per item outside of Europe, but still worth it for some titles:

- Twenty Thousand Streets Under the Sky - £5.99
- Bleak House £9.99
- Becoming Jane £9.99
- Robin Hood, Season 1 £16.99

http://www.zavvi.co.uk/hddvd.jsf

I ordered 20 Thousand Streets & Becoming Jane.

Those are excellent prices, at which I'd recommend all. I bought them already at AmazonUK for more than double (except Becoming Jane which was 18 pounds).

Well Robin Hood and Becoming Jane are gone from the site (at least they're not in the sale). Hotel Babylon is listed at 20 euros though.

Wow, they did change it already. It was just 1 page of titles, now it's 2 pages, but mostly titles released in the U.S.

I did find Becoming Jane by doing a search, it's still available for £9.99 -
http://www.zavvi.co.uk/becoming+jane...qc.r10.1/p.jsf

and the same for Robin Hood, £16.99 -

According to Amazon.co.uk (which wants £39.99 for it), Hotel Babylon is 3 discs & 471 minutes. £19.99 is the best retailer price I've seen for it, but a couple of folks have picked it up for less of eBay U.K. - but you need to find a seller willing to ship out of the U.K.

Robin Hood is 5 discs, 675 minutes, also $39.99 on Amazon, and hard to find on eBay.

I just snagged a sealed copy of Hotel Babylon for £5.10 + £3.95 shipping to the U.S. !

Didn't want to give too much away before my auction ended. You log into eBay.co.uk using your eBay.com ID & password. I found the easiest way was to just do a search for the title + HD - like "Hotel Babylon HD". Listings in which the seller will ship to the U.S. or Canada will show up with a shipping price; if the listing says "see details", they most likely won't ship to North America. You pay for your won items with your Paypal account.

Good call, I paid Amazon 94 pounds delivered for those four titles, FWIW.

I managed to control myself and only get '20K Streets', but Robin Hood and Bleak House are looking mighty tempting.

Just an FYI, the UK version of Planet Earth (that they have for 19.99) has 5 discs, versus the 4 disc NA version. Must resist...

Default Nice

My copy of Bleak House arrived today and the PQ is great. Although most of the scenes are set in the dark and dirty London streets/houses it still looks pretty darn sharp. Close-ups of Gillian Anderson have never looked so good .

All in all a great buy, 461 high def minutes for $20.

My Robin Hood and 20K Streets have shipped yesterday from Zavvi.co.uk but since they are going to my friend's house (Finland) first I have to wait a bit more for them to get here. Anyway, I'm glad they shipped them fast. I got 2 separate shipping notice e-mails (one for each), I wonder if they shipped them in 2 separate packages...
