Just read through this thread... blimey, illustrates the law of supply and demand very well!
I presume a lot of copies came onto the market now as prices are about $10 or so. Are there stashes of other "rare" titles sat in a warehouse somewhere? |

It could be, but the most part of the unreleased movies ended up in a shredder. That is for sure!

I just now won one for $12.00, but there's 5.50 shipping. I saw one on HD DVD Boxsets.com for even less, but before I could order it, POOF, the URL vanished!

I wonder if another HD DVD will pull a Taking Lives?

I guess it would take someone to find an overlooked batch of discs in a warehouse or liquidation stock. I've been watching HD-DVD prices for a while now and I suspect there are greater numbers of "rare" titles than is immediately apparent and sellers are managing supply. Certainly if I had a number of copies of e.g. Mulholland Drive (or the German/Dutch only titles) which always seem to go for a reasonable sum, I wouldn't offload them all at once, I'd drip-feed them onto the market. (I'm not claiming any kind of "conspiracy" here - merely vendors being sensible).
What would be really interesting would be if some non-released titles snuck out! However this would probably have happened by now, and if it did there would undoubtably be legal repurcussions. |
